Local Bookshops

18-19 High St, Shrewsbury SY1 1SJ, UK – 01743 248112

Just a good, old, Waterstones. Not the biggest good selection! Service was good on the occasion I went in.

Considering this is a 'high street' chain, this particular store has the feeling of the old-fashioned independent shops - warm and welcoming, friendly staff, quirky little annexes filled floor-to-ceiling with books... As a heads-up, I imagine the children's section would be difficult to access for those with mobility issues, due to various changes in level between the front door and this section. It's in-keeping with the character of the shop, but worth noting.

Oxfam Bookshop

Invariably purchase a book from this shop when I visit. Never know what you might find.

Helpful staff, good mix of books, cd's & dvd's & more. Always try to pop in when visting Shrewsbury.

Button & Bear Bookshop

28 Castle St, Shrewsbury SY1 2BQ, UK – 01743 341407

Friendly, helpful staff, good coffee, delicious cake and a great place for little ones to have a play in their play area. My granddaughter loves it there. Definitely worth a visit. Great selection of books too.

A beautiful shop, which is run by lovely friendly people. Some books are a little expensive, although only due to the recommended price! The hot drinks and cakes however are very reasonable and taste fantastic. I couldn't rate this shop higher for families with children.
