Hotels

The Shrewsbury Hotel

Bridge St, Shrewsbury SY1 1PU, UK – 01743 236203

I was only here for a quick lunch and a drink rather than being a hotel guest. You can generally know what to expect of a Wetherspoons - familiar and reliable drink and food quality, quick service, decent for families. This branch was busy but not noisy or rowdy, which was pleasant as I was with my young son. Food and drinks were fast and the staff very friendly. Even though there was a very large party in for a celebration, we were served quickly and didn't even know there was a big group in until we tried to get to the toilets - which were the only let down of this branch. They were a little tricky to get to with off steps and corners, and not in the greatest condition. Still, it's a handy cheap dining option for Shrewsbury, and close to pleasant walks along the river, or very convenient for the theatre. My tips: use the app to order! It's always reliably quick, easy, and perfect if you're on your own with children so would find juggling ordering/keeping a table/herding small children a challenge.

Brilliant Wetherspoons outlet , comfortable hotel facilities, great bar/restaurant and we'll prepared food . Great choice of drinks and teas/coffee's etc. I thoroughly recommend this venue.

The Old Post Office

1 Milk St, Shrewsbury SY1 1SZ, UK – 01743 236019

Super cute place in town to stay. Can walk to everything. There is no parking so if you get lucky you can find someplace close, if not your walking up the hill from the church. Bed was comfy, shower was super tiny. Room does need a fan in the hotter months, but for 1 night we managed. Dinner was so yummy (lamb shank) and breakfast was good as well.

On the whole I would recommend. Great location right in town especially for first time visitors.I stayed one night. It was quiet. The room was basic, clean & good value for the price. Pleasant staff too. The town is beautiful! Full of architectural treats!

Severn Social Hotel

Severn Social, 9 - 10 Frankwell, Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury SY3 8JY, UK – 01743 232624

Great burgers, the match on, and free pool one day a week. What more do you want? Maybe some good ales.

Simple menu which is what you need to deliver such good food. Great food and service.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Coach & Horses

Swan Hill, Shrewsbury SY1 1NF, UK – 01743 365661

Had a wonderful family evening here last week. Had to pre order our meals, understandably as there was twelve of us! The food and service were excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended even if it's just for a drink.

Although first impressions are that it is a bit old fashioned, the beer is excellent. The young staff are wonderful, happy to talk to strangers about Shrewsbury, football and beer. Food is nothing special but well priced.

The Crown

115 Longden Coleham, Shrewsbury SY3 7DX, UK – 01743 344557

Great staff great food and most importantly great atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone who wants a nice meal and drink. View is also very good with a riverside pub. Nothing I could find at fault so went for 5 star🌠

Great atmosphere and a sun trap during summer. Food could be served at later hours. However, the bar has a great draft and top shelf selection. Worth checking out their gins too!

The Old Bell

115 Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury SY2 6BA, UK – 01743 246185

Brilliant garden, friendly atmosphere, welcoming staff. The landlord and his staff go out of their way to ensure you have a very good meal. Sunday roast brilliant fresh vegetables cooked as we like them and roast beef to die for. All in all a great experience.

Friendly Staff and a great atmosphere. The room was a decent size and £25 for the night with a large breakfast was a bonus.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

The Old Police Cells

Apartment 4, The Old Police Station, Swan Hill, Shrewsbury SY1 1NN, UK – 01743 245356

The old police cells is a great place to stay. I’ve stayed here over the festive season every year for 7 years now and it’s become like a home away from home. Everything you need and it’s right in the heart of the city, just a short walk to anywhere you need to go.

Stayed in a beautiful Airbnb - just be aware that there is no phone signal!

Barn Cottages

Acorn Cottage, Red Barn Ln, Shrewsbury SY3 7HR, UK – 07913 387531

Perfect holiday retreat within walking distance of Shrewsbury town centre. All furniture and fittings are top specification affording every comfort a couple could wish for. Intend to return in the future.

What a tranquil place to stay. The cottage is only a short walk to the town centre but even locals would not know it was there. All the amenities you would expect of a holiday cottage are available. Jon and Sue are excellent hosts and they will make sure your stay is perfect as they did for us. Shrewsbury is a fascinating place to explore with many medieval buildings and narrow passages. Pubs ( easy walking) and food outlets galore.

Sleep Shrewsbury

12A College Hill, Shrewsbury SY1 1LZ, UK – 07873 939102

Fantastic place real home from home and excellent value xx

My girlfriend and i had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage in the centre of shrewsbury. It was immaculately clean and had lots of extra little touches which you would not ordinarily expect from self-catered accommodation. The fresh milk and biscuits on arrival were a lovely surprise, especially after our long drive. I would highly recommend this gorgeous little cottage to anybody thinking of a trip to shrewsbury; its location, style and amenities are second to none, contributing to an absolutely fabulous stay in shrewsbury.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
