A lovely large open space near Shrewsbury town centre I've known this park since my childhood; now it is a wonderful place to walk, exercise, play and relax. Handy for town centre pubs and restaurants as well as the excellent "Boathouse" pub just over Port Hill footbridge. The old quarry itself is in the middle, and provides a landscaped garden with ornamental lake and statuary. It is a great haven in which to sit and relax, the annual display of bedding plants is not to my taste, but I know some people do enjoy it.
A good park with modern play equipment for the children and plenty of wide open spaces for running around, riding a bike and taking a brisk stroll. The scenery is beautiful with the River Severn running alongside the park leading into the town centre. There are public toilets, a cafe, coffee bar and a fitness centre adjoining the park. Definitely worth a visit.

One of the nicest places in Shrewsbury to visit if you like beautiful gardens with pretty flowers , ponds and tranquillity. Some aspects of the site are gently sloping. There is also a number of bench seats. A very enjoyable place to visit in spring and summer on warm days.
Beautiful, but the dingle shuts too early, and both public toilets 🚻 were closed at 4 pm. Still a special place alway.
